Neo Space Synth is a new musical genre that evolved from old school space synth , mainly popularized by bands such as laserdance and koto by Anfrando Maiola / Stefano Cundari and koto by Michiel van der kuy in the 80's.
the genre has now been re-invented , pushed and brought forward by the Artist Filipe Santos now leading , taking the genre , giving it a new edge , carrying the legacy into new boundaries and territories , opening the doors to a new generation by freeing , removing and detaching the ''stigma'' that always held the ''spacesynth'' genre onto a halt:
that it always belonged to Laserdance , koto or any other popular bands belonging to the past.
Neo-Space Synth tracks are always longer than 6 minutes , they're usually very energetic , multi-layered , very cosmic , positive , spiritually and emotionally melodic .
They can also be ''dark'' , be filled with mystery and they're always usually about the universe , the future and it's surroundings.
Neo space synth tracks are light , bright , sharp in sound and keeps the tradition of not using heavy bassdrums in favour of bassline emphasis.
the ''italo-disco'' physical human needs and ordinary day-by-day ''pop cheap cheesy'' vibe is non-existent in neo space synth.
Neo space synth tracks don't rely on both overused drum and synthesized sounds used by the popular ''spacesynth'' groups from the 80's but rather aim at innovation and can even feature modulated synthesised sounds and the classic popular roland tb-303 ''acid'' sound in melodic phrases , never before done or used in space synth history before.
Neo Space Synth songs make use of both western and eastern musical scales depending on the feeling that the artist wishes to portray in the songs or any other musical scales as long as they're harmonic.
Neo Space synth also removed the ''old fashioned'' and extensive use of the long ''cheesy'' vocoder singing lines in favour of sampled phrases or lines that aim to deliver and complete the message that is intended to be delivered throughout the songs. whether the phrases are vocoded or not is purely an artistic decision.
